Barnacle Bill (the red arrow) Mars rock found by scientists on Earth
Above, one of many pictures sent back from Mars of a rock garden near the Pathfinder. The red arrow points to "Barnacle Bill," the first rock scientists studied on the robot rover's trip from the Mother Ship. Scientists on Earth, meanwhile, discovered a rock which, some scientists believe, both comes from Mars and contains microscopic Martian life. Whether the life is really Martian, though, is still being debated.

Above, an analysis of Earth rocks (the blue globs), Mars rocks in general (the red squares) and Barnacle Bill (the yellow star).
